The Tevopidi retained their stature in the (much diminished) Senate and among the higher echelons of the nobility throughout Keli Deztra's reign, but the widescale perception that she was weaker than her predecessor prompted the other castes and most Hakri to protest against Moilea's legacy and Deztra's continuation of it, and by 9888 this had emerged into open civil strife in Sur'daro. In 9889 Deztra the Elder was dragged from her palanquin and cut down in the street while her guards turned a blind eye, disgracing the Imperial Guard, all of whom were subsequently executed.
