Piloting a small shuttle taken from the Placeholder Antagonist, along with a copy of that ship's Psyche, Serena dives into the Expanse with nigh-suicidal intentions of either being blasted out of the sky by the Tletkettoyi or slipping through their defences and hiding out somewhere habitable. She gets lucky on both counts—not only are the Tletkettoyi extinct (a fact discovered by Serena before anyone else) but she finds an entire planet, Wanisin, which is uninhabited and ripe for colonizing.
